These absolute cuties are famous for their charming “tapps” — little feather tufts on their heads that make them look like mom gave them a bowl cut. Their feathers are some of the softest and silkiest we’ve ever felt, and their sweet, calm nature makes them a joy to keep. It’s no wonder they’re listed on the Slow Food Ark of Taste as a breed in critical need of preservation.
Please note, due to their adorable tapps, they are less likely to see predators, especially from the sky.
Eggs: Shetland hens lay beautiful blue or green eggs. Our flock produces eggs in a very light French blue or a lovely moss green shade.
