One of our absolute favorite breeds, the Ayam Cemani hails all the way from Indonesia and never fails to steal the spotlight. These birds are famously all black — and we mean all black (except their eggs… sorry!). Feathers, skin, comb, muscles, organs, and even bones are jet black, thanks to a fascinating fibromelanistic gene.
Often called the luxury supercar of chickens, Ayam Cemanis may look rare and exotic, but don’t be intimidated. These striking birds are surprisingly easy to care for and are known for their friendly, curious personalities.
Eggs: Medium-sized, cream-tinted eggs. While many sources say they lay around 100–120 eggs per year, our Ayam Cemanis are actually the top producers in our flock!
